Brake maintenance - What's stopping you

You'll not hear any argument when you say that timely brake servicing is important, but too many people still put it off even when it's plainly obvious that their brakes aren't working as they should.

Don't be one of these people, if your brakes are telling you, "hey, I'm tired, I need a break..." then it's time to give us a call and book a service.

Our workshop is conveniently located on Spanns Road in Beenleigh and our expertise, customer service and value for money is second to none.

Included in our brake services (as required):

  • Disc and drum machining
  • Brake pad and shoe replacement
  • Inspection, testing and repairs of all components
  • Checking, flushing and refilling of brake fluid
  • Inspection and repairs of brake lines
  • Inspection of emergency brake / hand brake

Here are some of the common problems you will notice with your brakes that should indicate they need a service:

Brake pedal sits lower than it used to - usually indicates a problem with the brake fluid itself or the hydraulic system through which it runs

Braking takes a lot of effort - could be a problem with the booster which is meant to magnify the force you apply to the brake pedal to the level needed to stop the car

Brake is hard, feels spongy or the call pulls to one side when you brake - typically a problem in your brake lines such as a leak which prevents to brake fluid from flowing through the system properly

Protect yourself with a brake service

Brake Service or repairs are clearly required if your car takes longer to stop than normal when you hit the brakes. However there are less noticeable warning signs that you must look out for to maintain your safety when travelling on the road.

If you notice the following warning signs - it's time to test your brakes.

  • There is a spongy soft or harder feel to your brake pedal
  • The brake pedal feels low
  • During braking your vehicle loses grip
  • Your car pulls to the left or right while braking
  • The steering wheel shudders when braking
  • You hear a high pitched squeak or squeal when the brakes are applied.

If your vehicle displays any of these signs, contact us at Southeast Auto Mechanical as soon as possible

Brakes are critical for safety in all vehicles; not having regular brake maintenance and testing means you are putting your life in danger. Braking systems should get an examination at every service and by a qualified technician.
